Accounting Analyst - Accounts Payable

 

The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the largest airline pilot union in the world and the largest non-governmental aviation safety organization in the world (representing over 78,000 pilots at 41 U.S. and Canadian airlines) seeks an Accounting Analyst – Accounts Payable for our Tysons (McLean), Virginia office.  The Accounting Analyst – Accounts Payable is responsible for the accurate recordation and payment of the Association’s activity, as well as that of affiliated organizations.  Areas of responsibility include the following: auditing and payment of invoices and internal and external expense reimbursements, accrual and payment of flight pay loss claims, performing monthly reconciliation of accounts to the general ledger, and initiating receipt of and maintaining current contract information on flight pay loss and contractual vendors

 

Travel:  0- 5%.

Minimum Requirements:

 

  • Two years of college with emphasis in business math and/or accounting strongly preferred; high school diploma required; or, the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two (2) years of related experience required, four (4) or more preferred.
  • Strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with internal and external vendors and Association members.
  • Solid math aptitude; analytical and technical skills preferred.
  • Knowledge of payments processing, and related activities, strongly preferred.
  • Strong teamwork, organization, task prioritization, and problem-solving skills required.
  • Organized self-starter mentality, with ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines with flexibility.
  • Software: Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.  Accounts Payable/Infor systems experience preferred.
  • Able to work flexible schedule on short-notice as needed, i.e., ability to meet scheduling requirements during peak activity periods such as month-end close, annual financial close, audits, and others, as required.

Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the office and the local metropolitan area.  May also include occasional bending, stooping, squatting, and/or pushing and pulling or moving, e.g., to pack, unpack, and/or move cases.

Occasionally required to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve binders, boxes, and files up to ten (10) pounds (lbs.).  Sporadically and/or while on travel, could be responsible to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve luggage and/or boxes weighing as much as 50 lbs.  (Assistance may not always be available.)

PROJECTED ANNUAL SALARY RANGE:  $49,816.00 –$67,028.00
