Sr. Legislative Representative    The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the largest airline pilot union in the world and the largest non-governmental aviation safety organization in the world seeks a Sr. Legislative Representative for Washington, D.C./ Tysons (McLean), VA office.  ALPA represents more than 77,000 pilots at 41 airlines in the United States and Canada.  The Sr. Legislative Representative will serve as an integral member of the advocacy team developing, analyzing, and promoting federal policy in the interests of ALPA members.  Reporting to the Association’s Manager, Government Affairs and working collaboratively with other departments, they will function as part of ALPA’s Government Affairs team to advance ALPA priorities. Their emphasis will be on direct advocacy with Capitol Hill and the Administration, as well as providing advice related to legislation and legislative strategies. They will be responsible for analyzing legislation and regulations as well as drafting legislative proposals.  This position requires lobbying of Capitol Hill decision-makers and may include representing the Association in international and domestic venues with federal and international governmental representatives and industry stakeholders.  Critical, strategic thinking and excellent interpersonal skills are essential.      The successful candidate will have deep knowledge of the legislative process and aviation policy. Occupational Health & Safety Specialist   The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the largest airline pilot union and the largest non-governmental aviation safety organization in the world, seeks an Occupational Health and Safety Specialist for our office in Ottawa, Ontario.  ALPA represents more than 77,000 pilots at 42 airlines in Canada and the United States.  The Occupational Health & Safety Specialist is responsible for coordinating the delivery of services provided by the following ALPA Canada Pilot Groups and their Committees including, but not limited to, Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and ALPA’s Air Safety Organization (ASO), including Pilot Assistance.  They work directly with staff and appointed Committee Chairs to ensure that regular communications with the Directors, ALPA Canada and Engineering and Air Safety, and Committee Chairs are maintained and that the services of the Committees are aligned with the overall strategic aims and objectives of ALPA and its MECs.   They prepare comments on legislative and proposed amendment initiatives pertaining to Aviation Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and may prepare testimony for presentation in Ottawa.  Similarly, they represent member interests in industry participation groups such as the Canadian Aviation Regulation Advisory Council (CARAC).   Working with their department management and colleagues, along with members of the ASO, they work to advance ALPA’s policies, initiatives, and goals in the areas of OHS and Pilot Assistance.  They also support ALPA ASO pilot representatives on relevant internal and external committees and may assist in conducting meetings between ALPA and industry/government stakeholders on areas of assigned work.   Travel:  5 – 20%.
