The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the largest airline pilot union in the world and the largest non-governmental aviation safety organization in the world (representing over 63,000 pilots at 35 U.S. and Canadian airlines) seeks an experienced Web/Mobile Developer for our Tysons (McLean), Virginia office. The Web/Mobile Developer gathers user requirements, performs systems design and analysis, and develops and tests Web applications that can be complex. S/he provides input for the lifecycle development of Web projects, allowing for integration of corporate technical architecture standards and strategy. S/he collaborates with Web Architects, Web/Mobile Developers, other technology specialists, and often with other departments in the implementation of projects and strategy. To be successful, s/he researches, identifies, and recommends design and technology infrastructure alternatives and assists in their design when appropriate. S/he ensures consistent use of technical architecture standards and assists with complex problem resolution efforts and may also provide recommendations and information to management regarding technology direction and/or drawbacks and glitches.

Financial/Economic Analyst

The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the largest airline pilot union in the the world and the largest non-governmental aviation safety organization in the world (representing over 63,000 pilots at 35 U.S. and Canadian airlines) seeks a Financial/Economic Analyst for our Tysons (McLean), Virginia office. A Financial/Economic Analystprovides analytical support in collective bargaining; develops financial, statistical, economic, and collective agreement analyses and reports; assists negotiating committees during negotiations by developing questionnaires and analytical models which value a variety of contractual proposals; and, prepares exhibits and other reports.
S/he will have direct involvement in and coordination of analytical support for complex and time-sensitive negotiations and general contractual discussions; develop analytical models in support of negotiations and other Association issues; cost out and make recommendations regarding contract proposals; develop financial/econometric models and forecasts and industry white papers; provide projections and make presentations at Association-sponsored meetings and seminars; and/or, work with the Manager on select industry issues to be used as the focus of long-term projects. Depending on experience and qualifications, s/he may also provide litigation support and policy analyses.
S/he will routinely work with pilot negotiating committees; Labor Relations Counsel; ALPA special committees; pilot leadership; and, ALPA Officers, Directors, and staff, as well as other industry players including airline management, other unions, and consultants; and monitor and analyze developments in the airline industry and be able to provide an appraisal of industry events and prepare exhibits and analytical reports to support the Association's efforts in promoting wages and working conditions. May also serve as an expert financial and economic witness in Association grievances and lawsuits and make recommendations regarding negotiating strategy and Association policy.
An ALPA Financial/Economic Analyst must possess strong analytical skills and be proficient in working with Excel to develop the complex models that are critical in collective bargaining. S/he must possess a strong understanding of financial statements and economics and a thorough knowledge of information resources that would be useful in promoting the objectives of the Association. S/he must also be creative as s/he determines what and which data would be useful in resolving an issue as accurately and timely as possible; then, s/he must compile and analyze the information to determine its effectiveness.

The Web Content Developer and Trainer creates engaging web experiences and translates a deep knowledge of web development into interactive trainings for content editors, managers, and developers. S/he works closely with other staff, members, and leaders to transition wireframes, concepts, and designs into functional and modern websites. Along with coding and styling websites, s/he will be a part of a team responsible for updating, changing, and posting content to ALPA websites. Accounts Payable Analyst

Using knowledge of ALPA's processing rules and procedures, the Accounts Payable Analyst is responsible for the thorough review and analysis of invoices and expense reports that result in the accurate and timely recording and payment of expenses for the Association and other affiliated organizations. Daily responsibilities include receiving, reviewing, and analyzing invoices and payment production; scanning, filing, and keying; and, answering questions, audits, and special projects. Other areas of responsibility include auditing and review and processing of flight pay loss accruals and payments; initiating receipt of and maintaining current contract information on contractual vendors; follow-up on problem items to resolve issues; completion of monthly reconciliations; and, fielding questions and providing training assistance on systems used by the Association. Sr. Communications Specialist

This position provides communications support to the more than 14,400 member pilots of the Delta MEC and occasionally contributes to Association-wide communication initiatives. Labor Relations Counsel
The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the largest airline pilot union in the world and the largest non-governmental aviation safety organization in the world (representing over 63,000 pilots at 35 U.S. and Canadian airlines) seeks an experienced Labor Relations Counsel for office in Dallas – Ft. Worth, Texas. Under minimal direct supervision and within the limitations of Association policy, the Labor Relations Counselprovides assistance to pilot governing bodies and to individual members on all subjects that affect their employment. S/he uses thorough understanding of applicable laws and comprehensive experience in Association policies and procedures to handle an extensive range of complex labor relations assignments, often on short notice, and functions as a labor relations professional. S/he also provides staff assistance in all phases of negotiating agreements; coordinates all activities during negotiations while concurrently maintaining communication with all interested parties; monitors and administers contracts; manages FAA actions against individual pilots; prepares summaries of NTSB Accident/Incident hearings; handles all case management functions; and, will work on national projects in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the office and travel (locally, nationally, and internationally). Also includes occasional bending, stooping, squatting, and/or pushing and pulling or moving, e.g., to pack, unpack, and/or move cases.
Occasionally required to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve binders, books, boxes, and files up to ten (10) pounds (lbs.). While on travel, could be responsible to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve luggage weighing as much as 50 lbs. (Assistance may not always be available.)
