IT Support Technician
The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the largest airline pilot union in the world and the largest non-governmental aviation safety organization in the world (representing over 67,000 pilots at 39 U.S. and Canadian airlines) seeks an IT Support Technician for our Tysons (McLean), Virginia office. Under direct supervision, the IT Support Technician provides assistance that includes the installation, testing, and maintenance of personal computer hardware and software for Association officers, volunteers, and staff. They coordinate and carry out activities associated with the maintenance and operation of all personal computers, tablets, and printers; identify, analyze, and resolve equipment problems; and, initiate and monitor corrective action. They are responsible for support services - in coordination with other department staff - for problem resolution of a more advanced technical nature. They also develop, organize, and maintain a technical library (software, manuals, and procedures) and carry out special projects as assigned.

Constantly operates a computer/smartphone/tablet. Regularly required to maintain a stationary position; move about the office and the local metropolitan area; determine what others have said or written; and, converse with others and exchange accurate information. Must have the ability to safely lift, transport, and move boxes of computers, supplies, and/or equipment up to fifty (50) pounds (lbs.) multiple times a day, as needed.
Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the office and travel locally. May also include occasional bending, stooping, squatting, and/or pushing and pulling or moving, e.g., to pack, unpack, and/or move cases.
Occasionally required to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve books, boxes, and files up to seventy-five (75) lbs. Sporadically, may be responsible to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve boxes, cases, files, packages, shipping containers, and/or equipment weighing as much as one hundred (100) lbs. (Assistance may not always be available.)
