Membership Project and Accounts Receivable Analyst



The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the largest airline pilot union in the world and the largest non-governmental aviation safety organization in the world (representing over 61,000 pilots at 38 U.S. and Canadian airlines) seeks an experienced Membership Project and Accounts Receivable Analyst for our Tysons (McLean), Virginia office.  The Membership Project and Accounts Receivable Analyst’s duties include a broad range of responsibilities with a special focus on the coordination, processing, and analysis of annual dues adjustment calculations, ensuring that all individual member annual cash receipt reports are reviewed for accuracy and posted to member website in a timely manner, which requires the ability to quickly develop deep knowledge and understanding of all Membership Administration functions.  They directly support all departmental activities, including the administration of the membership database and configuration of membership applications, especially as related to billing functionality and associated Accounts Receivable (A/R) interfaces.  Serves as primary support for special projects encompassing system enhancements and specialized reporting.  Liaises between Membership Administration and internal/external system data users to provide functional software support and systems training; and, serves as a primary contact with IT Development & Support.


Travel:  2 - 5%.

Minimum Requirements:


  • At least two years of college (Bachelors preferred) with emphasis in business math and/or accounting strongly preferred; high school diploma required; or, the equivalent combination of education and practical experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience with A/R and/or billing systems required, four (4) or more preferred. At management discretion, ALPA experience with proven expertise and may be substituted for the above.
  • Strong business math skills including billing/reconciliations, reporting, and data analysis required.
  • Solid database skills required.
  • Solid knowledge of ALPA policies and procedures strongly preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of ALPA computerized systems utilized by Membership Administration preferred.
  • Association and/or membership programs experience preferred.
  • Able to work flexible schedule on short notice as needed.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical problem solver, with solid communication skills, internal and external, essential.
  • Software: CRM, MS Excel (Data and Pivot Tables), Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about the office and travel.  May also include occasional bending, stooping, squatting, and/or pushing and pulling or moving, e.g., to pack, unpack, and/or move cases.

Occasionally required to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve binders, books, boxes, and files up to ten (10) pounds (lbs.).  While on travel, could be responsible to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve luggage weighing as much as 50 lbs.  (Assistance may not always be available.)
