    Administrative Assistant

     

     

    The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the largest airline pilot union in the world and the largest non-governmental aviation safety organization in the world seeks an experienced Administrative Assistant for our Atlanta office supporting 14,500 Delta pilots.  The Administrative Assistant provides detailed administrative support to Representation, Contract Administration, R&I, and negotiators.  This requires technical skills, attention to detail, and strong customer service acumen.  S/he answers incoming phone calls; relieves the MEC office receptionist, as needed; keeps files, System Board books, and grievance files up to date; and, finalizes and routes grievances and appeals.  S/he also opens and distributes mail; collects and reports Labor Relations Counsel schedules; makes travel and hotel arrangements; assists in preparation of briefs; opens and closes FAA cases; supports committees; orders and maintains office supplies; sets up electronic and paper files; monitors pilot statement inbox and forwards as appropriate; types a wide variety of letters, newsletters, reports, briefs, contracts, and forms; proofreads documents; assists in the compilation of data; and, duplicates, collates, and distributes documents.

    Minimum Requirements:

     

    • High schoool graduate or equivalent with two years of college and/or business school required, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Three (3) years of related experience required, five (5) or more preferred
    • Legal and/or labor law experience/knowledge preferred.
    • Excellent communication skills, oral and written, to work effectively with all levels of contacts, internal and external.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to process highly sensitive information and documents in a confidential manner.
    • Must be detailed oriented, possess strong organizational skills, and be able to work in a team environment.
    • Notary preferred.
    • Word processing speed of 50 wpm required, 60 + wpm preferred.
    • Software: Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.

    Occasionally required to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve binders, books, boxes, and files up to ten (10) pounds (lbs.). Sporadically, could be responsible to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve binders, boxes, cases, and/or files weighing as much as 25 lbs. (Assistance may not always be available.)
