Enterprise Data Architect
The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the largest airline pilot union in the world and the largest non-governmental aviation safety organization in the world (representing over 59,000 pilots at 33 U.S. and Canadian airlines) seeks an experienced Data Architect for our Herndon, Virginia, office. The Data Architect will work with business knowledge experts and Association leadership to define the vision of ALPA’s data store, i.e. to translate data and reporting requirements from a logical design into the physical database(s) repository(ies). S/he will work with system designers and developers to address issues of data migration (validation, clean-up, transformation, and mapping) and will ensure data dictionaries are maintained and available to support data understanding and reporting requirements. S/he should be an expert at both defining data structures and data integration and archiving practices, whether for business intelligence or operational uses.

The successful candidate is an excellent communicator. S/he possesses solid presentation skills and the abilities to listen, elicit and interpret information, and formulate requirements to meet and/or surpass user expectations.

While on travel, may be responsible to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve binders, boxes, cases, and/or files weighing as much as 50 lbs. (Assistance may not always be available.)
