Magazine & Graphic Designer
The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA), the largest airline pilot union in the world and the largest non-governmental aviation safety organization in the world (representing over 57,000 pilots at 33 U.S. and Canadian airlines), seeks an experienced Magazine & Graphic Designer for our Herndon, Virginia, office. The Magazine & Graphics Designer serves as the primary designer for the Association’s flagship monthly publication, Air Line Pilot magazine, s/he is responsible for the design, layout, typography, and photography selection, and coordination with print vendors to get the magazine to press on time. Outside of production week, s/he generates original graphic designs for a variety of Association publications and marketing items including newsletters, flyers, posters, and web collateral for ALPA and its pilot groups. To be successful in this position, you must be creative, work well under tight deadlines with minimal supervision, have excellent listening skills, and be able to accurately interpret direction/requests for fast turnaround with quality results. The ideal candidate will have previous experience as an art director or the equivalent.

Occasionally required to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve binders, books, boxes, and files up ten (10) pounds (lbs.). While on travel, could be responsible to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve binders, boxes, cases, and/or files weighing as much as 25 lbs. (Assistance may not always be available.)
